The Magic of Spring ‘Just Because’ Flowers

Mayfield Florists At the turn of the season, when the air shifts with the promise of renewal, a simple gesture can shimmer with a new sense of fresh beginnings. Welcome to the enchanting world of Spring Just Because Flowers. In this blog, we will unravel the science behind why these spontaneous acts of floral delight can make such a powerful and positive impact.     SPECIAL DISCOUNT OFFERS - USE ON MAIN WEBSITE         There are no birthdays, anniversaries, or celebratory milestones to anchor these tokens of affection. It is the sheer spontaneity and the occasional randomness of receiving a bouquet that ignites a particularly delightful spark. Flowers are nature's poetry, and when they show up unannounced, their rhythm harmonizes with the serendipity of the act. Join us as we explore the joys of giving and receiving Just Because flowers, and how these floral messengers can magnify joy and strengthen bonds in the most unexpected ways. The Magic of the Unexpected The essence of Just Because flowers lie in their surprise factor. Unlike occasions with a tradition or obligation, the giver and recipient of these blooms experience the sheer delight of the unexpected. The springtime, with its kaleidoscopic bursts of color, is the perfect canvas for this spontaneous art of gifting. Imagine a gloomy, overcast day brightening with the arrival of a vibrant posy. It is these moments that stand out, etching themselves into the heart’s gallery of treasured memories. Such impromptu gifts are heartwarming affirmations that the mundane can be transcended, and that there's magic in the little things. Language of Flowers The tradition of using blooms as messengers is old as time. Each flower, with its unique scent and shade, carries layers of meaning. The Just Because bouquet speaks a universal language – one of appreciation, love, and thoughtfulness. A single flower can convey a multitude of emotions. A purple lilac might whisper the first flush of love, while a red carnation shouts admiration. The recipient, often without a word spoken, deciphers the unspoken message, and is instantly transported to the world where the heart is fluent in the language of blooms. Strengthening Bonds Just Because flowers are like a skip on a calm lake, creating ripples of happiness that touch not just the individual, but the collective. They serve as a gentle reminder that someone out there is thinking of you, not because they have to, but because they want to. Such gestures do not just brighten the day; they weave the threads of connection tighter. In the humdrum of daily life, where time is a luxury, the simple act of gifting a floral surprise speaks volumes about the giver's commitment and warmth. It is this subtlety that ties people together, fostering a sense of belonging and contentment. Self-Care in the Given Bloom The act of gifting flowers is as much a balm for the giver's soul as it is a delight for the receiver. In [...]

It is the season when romantic gestures and heartfelt gifts take center stage, and what better way to express your feelings than through the timeless beauty of flowers? In this medium-length post, we dive into the vibrant world of Valentine's Day Flowers, offering a complete guide to make your romantic gifting unforgettable.   SPECIAL DISCOUNT OFFERS - USE ON MAIN WEBSITE         The Symbolism of Flowers Flowers have long been a symbol of love and romance, with their origins as a means of communication dating back to ancient times. Each bloom carries its own unique message and meaning, making the act of flower giving on Valentine's Day not just a tradition but a deeply expressive gesture. Popular flowers and their meanings: Roses: Red roses are iconic for passion and true love, while pink roses signify admiration and sweetness. Tulips: These graceful flowers symbolize perfect love, with red tulips declaring true love, much like the rose. Orchids: A sophisticated choice, orchids represent beauty, strength, and a deep, enduring love. Choosing the Perfect Flowers The process of selecting Valentine's Day flowers should be as enjoyable as the act of giving. Here are some factors and types of flowers to enhance your romantic gesture: Freshness: The fresher the flowers, the longer they will last, symbolizing a lasting relationship. Color: In addition to types, consider what the colors convey. Bright hues reflect joy and vibrancy, while soft tones can communicate tenderness. Different flowers carry different emotional weights, so consider the message you wish to send. Lilies can mean devotion, while peonies are often associated with prosperity and happiness in a marriage. Romantic Flower Arrangements Creating a flower arrangement adds a personal touch that heightens the romantic sentiment. Consider the following tips to craft an arrangement that captures your feelings: Color Combos: A palette of reds and whites is classic for Valentine's Day, or opt for purples and pinks for a gentle, loving mix. Flower Pairing: Pair roses with baby’s breath for innocence or create contrast by combining orchids with ferns for an exotic touch. DIY Valentine's Day Floral Gifts For something truly from the heart, a DIY floral gift adds a layer of thoughtfulness. Here is a simple guide: Select a mix of primary flowers and filler flora. Choose a container that fits your partner's style. Arrange the blooms, starting with the larger flowers. Fill in gaps with smaller flowers and foliage. Personalize the container with a ribbon or a heartfelt note. Consider making a flower box or a simple potted plant embellished with decorations for a lasting gift. Ordering Flowers Online In today’s busy world, ordering flowers online is a convenient option. The key benefits include a wide selection and the ability to schedule a surprise delivery. Mayfield Florist The weather is getting warmer, the bees are buzzing, and the flowers are blooming. Yes Spring 2023 starts on March 20th! If you're looking for a way to spruce up your home or garden with Spring Flowers and Plants. Spring flowers are beautiful and perfect for your springtime event or gift. Spring flowers are available in many different colors and varieties, so you can find the perfect ones for any occasion. Whether you're looking for spring bouquets, centerpieces or gifts, there's no better way to show someone how much you care than with a beautiful bouquet of fresh-cut flowers! There are many different types of spring flowers, including tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. You can even get spring plants to bring some of the beauty of the season indoors! These plants will add color and life to your home for months after you take them home. We have compiled a list of some of my favorites below: Spring Flower Bouquets A bouquet is a collection of flowers that have been gathered together in a vase or other container, often as part of an arrangement for display. Flowers are usually gathered from their original source (such as the garden) but can also be purchased from florists who grow them specifically for that purpose. A floral arrangement may include additional greenery, such as leaves or stems, which are sometimes referred to as filler items when they're included with the flowers themselves in an arrangement. Floral arrangements are typically used to decorate a room in the home, office or any other location. They can also be given as gifts to others, often as a token of appreciation for some kind act or service. Other times they're used as centerpieces for special occasions, such as weddings and anniversaries. Spring Flower Types Spring flowers are a beautiful way to add color and life to your home. You can choose from many different varieties of spring flowers, including tulips, daffodils and hyacinths. Or you can opt for something more exotic like crocuses or even miniature roses! Spring flowers come in all shapes, sizes and colors so there's something for everyone. If you're looking for something small but still bright and cheerful then consider getting some Anemone 'Bach's Caribou'. It has dark red petals with white centers that grow up to 6 inches tall so they make a great statement piece on any table when paired with other spring plants like pansies or violas which also work well because they don't require much sunlight so will thrive indoors too! If, however, you prefer something bigger, try growing some Gladiolus 'Black Beauty' (Gladiolus hybridus) instead; these have huge blossoms that measure up to 10 inches wide so definitely make quite an impact when placed alongside other potted plants such as Caladiums which grow large enough themselves anyway but also provide shade underneath their leaves - perfect if yours tend towards being sunburned easily like mine do." If you're looking for something more unusual than consider getting some Crocus [...]

Mayfield Florist has been creating gorgeous wedding and event flowers since 1982 Reality is that the pandemic in early 2020 had an impact on many things. This included creating a problem for US Florists in receiving timely and complete flower orders from flower farms. It is now strongly recommended that if you are needing to have Wedding Flowers in the next 6-9 months, you should start wedding planning with a florist as soon as possible.  Mayfield Florist is the premier florist in Tucson AZ specializing in the floral planning of elegant weddings. The flower shortage facing all florists is a combination of several factors. One thing is evident and that is most florists in the US and beyond are feeling the pressure. All are doing their very best to find ways to continue servicing their client base in the best way possible. At Mayfield Florist, we have a professional team of wedding planning experts and designers that create stunning flower bouquets. We would be honored and delighted to get started with you in planning your wedding. Flower Supply Challenges Global Pandemic - We all understand the impact this horrific event had worldwide. This 2020 event snowballed into effecting many different industries including Wholesale Flower Growers. Many had to shut down farms due to quarantine requirements. This in turn resulted in laying off many workers and destroying tons of flowers. Some farms have not reopened and appear to have gone out of business. Breaking it down further to real numbers, the National Association of Wholesale Distributors reported that there were 5.64 million employed in the US floral industry at the end of December 2020. That equates to 247,717 jobs lost between 2019 and 2020. That is the lowest level of floral industry employment in the past seven years. Then furthering the problem was the reduced number of flowers that were grown. Increased Number of Weddings - There is a huge increase in the number of weddings. Many were postponed due to the Pandemic. The U.S. Wedding Report study reported that in 2021 there were an estimated 1.93 million weddings scheduled. That number for 2022 has climbed to 2.47 million. This increase in the demand for wedding flowers coupled with the supply issues is making the problem worse. Mayfield Florist Bridal Bouquets Environmental Changes - Climates in some regions where flowers are grown have changed. In South America, they are reporting colder nights and more rainfall which has negatively affected flower production. Then domestically, many farms are located in California which as we know has been suffering from severe drought conditions. As people have gotten back to normal and begun planning events again, there are now fewer flowers and workers to load trucks. Sadly, many flowers are left to die in the heat because they cannot be loaded onto trucks. Foreign Political Pressures - In many parts of the world there are political unrest matters. This is true in Ecuador which is a major supplier of wholesale flowers. There are many [...]

Shop with Mayfield Florist for National Rose Month

Mayfield Florist has the best red roses in Tucson and was Voted Best Florist in Tucson Arizona Mayfield Florist is the best florist to purchase roses from in the Tucson area. We have roses of all types and colors.  This June is National Rose Month and is the perfect time to shop with Mayfield Florist. Not only do we offer roses, but we also have many other varieties of flowers and plants to choose from. Recently, I was provided with a sensational article regarding roses that was written by the Chairman of the Society of American Florists. There is so much great information in the article, and it is so relevant for National Rose Month that I wanted to share it. Roses are the most popular flower in the world, with over a billion stems sold annually. Over 250 million are produced for Valentine’s Day alone. They are popular because of their beautiful colors, shape and petal structure, as well as their lovely fragrance. While many landscape roses have 5 petals, hybrid tea roses, those produced for commercial cutting, can have up to 40 petals. Best of all, there are always new varieties to discover with over 150 rose species and thousands of fabulous cultivars. June is National Rose Month, a perfect time for me to share with you some of my favorite varieties, not ranked, because they are simply too beautiful to pick a favorite. Alabaster is a breathtaking, off-white rose with many soft, delicate petals. Catalina warms my soul with creamy yellow petals that reveal sunshine as they open. Ashley is a luscious pink rose that is not too pale and not too bold. Juliet captivates me with a very interesting petal structure and perfect peach color. Miyabi Wabara is a pink rose with a peach heart and wonderfully ruffled petals. Free Spirit combines yellow, peach and pink in its countless petals. Just WOW! I am often asked how to care for cut roses and respond with a few tips: Keep the water clean. Bacteria is our primary enemy and you can limit bacterial growth by rinsing the vase daily and refilling with water. Cut stems with a knife or very sharp pruners. Dull scissors will pinch the Xylem and Phloem closed and restrict the uptake of water. Use the flower food provided by your florist. The old wives' tales about aspirin and pennies are lore and not based on any science. The food is most essential during the first two water changes, so do not worry if you run out. If a rose wilts prematurely, do not trash it. Simply give it a fresh cut and submerge the entire rose in warm water for an hour or so. It will rehydrate and look great for many additional days. Fun fact: Most of the world’s cut roses are grown in the mountains of Colombia and Ecuador. The altitude and proximity to the Equator means lots of year-round sunshine and the perfect combination of temperature and humidity. Also, please [...]
